Peer Review Policy

Peer Review Policy

The Global Journal of Sport and Exercise Science (GJSES) employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific validity of the manuscripts published in the journal.

The journal follows a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the editorial office and the Editor-in-Chief to determine whether the manuscript:

  • Fits within the scope of the journal

  • Meets basic academic and formatting standards

  • Demonstrates sufficient scientific quality

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

Peer Review Process

If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is sent to two or more independent expert reviewers in the relevant field.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:

  • Originality and novelty of the research

  • Scientific methodology and research design

  • Clarity of presentation and organization

  • Relevance to the field of sport and exercise science

  • Adequacy of references and literature review

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor may make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept the manuscript

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Request major revisions

  • Reject the manuscript

Revision Process

When revisions are requested, authors are expected to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version within the specified time frame.

The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to GJSES are treated as confidential documents.

Reviewers must not share or use any information from the manuscript for personal or professional advantage.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective and constructive feedback

  • Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript

  • Identify relevant literature that has not been cited

  • Inform the editor of any potential conflicts of interest

Reviewers should decline the review if they feel unqualified or unable to provide a timely evaluation.

Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the overall scientific quality of the manuscript.

Commitment to Quality

Through its peer review process, the Global Journal of Sport and Exercise Science (GJSES) aims to ensure the publication of high-quality scholarly research that contributes to the advancement of sport science and physical education.
