Plagiarism Policy
The Global Journal of Sport and Exercise Science (GJSES) does not accept plagiarised work. Every manuscript is screened with iThenticate (Crossref Similarity Check) at submission, before peer review. Revised manuscripts may be screened again before acceptance.
The editors interpret the similarity report; they do not decide on the percentage alone. As a guide:
- Overall similarity up to 20%, with no more than 5% from any single source: the manuscript proceeds to review.
- Over 20%, or substantial copying from one source: the manuscript is returned to the authors for revision, or rejected.
- Clear plagiarism, including copied text, data, figures or ideas without attribution, or duplicate publication of the authors' own earlier work: the manuscript is rejected.
Properly quoted and cited material, references, methods descriptions and standard phrases are taken into account when assessing a report.
If plagiarism is found after publication, GJSES follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which may lead to a correction or a retraction. Concerns can be sent to editor@gjses.org.
